Professional Journey:
Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Hayley earned her doctor of pharmacy from Pacific University School of Pharmacy in Hillsboro, Oregon. She is actively completing her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Providence Newberg Medical Center and Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Oregon.
How you got there/why did you have an interest in becoming a pharmacist/completing a residency?
Hayley initially gained interest in becoming a pharmacist after working for her mother, a veterinarian, and becoming acquainted with pharmaceutics in the veterinary medicine setting. Throughout pharmacy school, Hayley engaged in medicinal chemistry research opportunities at Pacific University that sparked her interest in oncology. She decided to pursue a PGY1 residency in hopes of experiencing various aspects of pharmacy practice including oncology.
Professional Activities:
Hayley is currently serving as a new member of the OSHP Membership Council. She hopes to engage new pharmacy practitioners in the benefits that OSHP offers. Hayley also will be completing her teaching certificate in the upcoming year through Pacific University School of Pharmacy.
What are some your career goals as a new practitioner:
After completing her PGY1, Hayley plans to pursue a PGY2 residency in oncology. She strives to continually engage in preceptorship and academic service opportunities throughout her professional career while continually serving the pharmacy profession as a whole by engaging in leadership opportunities within local and national pharmacy organizations. Hayley also plans to engage in clinical research opportunities in the oncology setting in the future as well.
