Professional Journey:
Kylee earned her PharmD from Oregon State/OHSU college of Pharmacy and fell in love with the pediatric population during her APPE rotations. She then completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Cook Children’s Medical center in Fort Worth, Texas and has been with OHSU for the past 3 years.
How you got there/why did you have an interest in becoming a EAC?
I became a member of the EAC when I was a student and continued being involved after I came back to Oregon from residency. I have always enjoyed precepting and mentoring students and helping to promote the expansion of knowledge….which is what the EAC is all about! If anyone in pharmacy, a student, pharmacist, or technician, is interested in becoming involved, EAC is a great way to do so. We are always open to new committee members and new ideas for continuing education. We currently have a great group of committee members from different areas and backgrounds of pharmacy.
Professional Activities:
Kylee is currently serving OSHP as co-chair of the Educational Affairs Council (EAC) and is also a member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG). She really enjoys precepting students both on rotations and at outreaches such as Farmer’s Markets.
Role in Pharmacy:
Kylee is the primary pediatric critical care pharmacist at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. She teaches and precepts both residents and students, helps with process improvement in the Pediatric ICU, and serves on various committees including chair of the Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) at OHSU. She is currently working several per pharmacy pediatric protocols including enoxaparin, vancomycin, and weaning of sedation medications. Kylee is also passionate about promoting pediatric pharmacy serving on the Pediatric Code Blue Committee, The Pediatric Medication Use Committee, and Pediatric Medication Safety Committee. She also pioneered the implementation and training of code blue response for pediatric pharmacists at Doernbecher’s after staffing in the Emergency Department in her residency. Kylee also enjoys research and precepted two students who presented projects at ASHP midyear in 2018.
Fun fact about yourself:
I really enjoy reading novels, mostly fiction, and I usually read a book in one day.
