Gary Runyon, PharmD

Gary Runyon is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy (UTCOP) in Memphis, TN and brings over 20 years of diverse pharmacy experience to Oregon, where he relocated in 2020. His expertise spans from retail and long-term care to academia and compliance. He has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career, serving as a district-level educator for new pharmacists, a statewide trainer for health testing services, and a regional quality assurance lead. Gary joined the Oregon Board of Pharmacy as a Compliance Officer in 2023, and recently transitioned to the role of Pharmacy Consultant (Healthcare Investigator/Advisor), where he conducts research on pharmacy practice, prepares draft policies and administrative rules, and collaborates on furthering the board's strategic initiatives. He also involved in education and outreach efforts, presenting on pharmacy laws and regulations, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and facilitating agency communications. When not at work, Gary enjoys spending time in the great outdoors hiking and backpacking, paddleboarding, or taking a cold plunge on the Oregon coastline. During the rainy season, he enjoys drawing, playing his guitar, or catching a local comedy show at a hole-in-the-wall club.

Katie graduated from Washington State University College of Pharmacy in 2003. She practiced for 15 years in acute care, as a clinical pharmacist and as Manager of Pharmacy Clinical Services. It was during this acute care experience that she developed a passion for safety and high reliability, having seen the impact of errors on patients, families, and healthcare team members. For the past six years, Katie has served as the Medication Safety Officer for Providence Medical Group in Oregon. In this role, she supports safe medication practices in over 200 ambulatory clinics through safety event analysis, action planning, project management, and education. Katie also serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Patient Safety Commission, which aims to ‘encourage transparency and shared learnings to make care safer for every Oregonian.

Kristy Butler, BSPharm, PharmD, MBA, BCACP

Dr. Butler is Director of Clinical Pharmacy for Providence Medical Group, Oregon Region. She leads a large team to provide robust clinical pharmacy services; population health management; quality, utilization, and value initiatives; evidence-based education; and support of strategic operational priorities in ambulatory care. Kristy previously practiced as a clinical pharmacy specialist in Primary Care with Providence and at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She received her BS in Pharmacy from Oregon State University (OSU), her PharmD from OSU/OHSU, and her MBA from New England College. She completed a specialized pharmacy residency in primary care and is board certified in ambulatory care. She is an author of several book chapters and an invited speaker on establishing, managing, and advancing pharmacy practice; precepting; value-based care and population health; and continuous professional development.
She has a long history of professional involvement with OSHP and ASHP, including previous service as an OSHP presidential officer and has held other roles on the Board of Directors. Her ASHP service includes the Board of Directors; chair of the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners; chair of the Council on Public Policy; and a delegate in the ASHP House of Delegates. Kristy has received recognition for her contributions to the profession as a Fellow of ASHP and OSHP, OSHP Pharmacy Practitioner of the Year, OSHP Pharmacist of the Year, and OSU College of Pharmacy’s inaugural Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient.

Lorinda Anderson, PharmD, BCPS is a Clinical Associate Professor at Oregon State University College of Pharmacy who teaches in the Pharmacy Practice lab sequence and reproductive health therapeutics.
