Please join us for the 7th Northwestern States Residency Conference. This conference is designed to provide pharmacy residents with a platform from which to showcase their major projects in a virtual podium style presentation. In addition, it offers attendees the opportunity to earn three hours of ACPE-approved CE via presentations by locally and nationally recognized speakers.

Resident presentations are 20 minutes each (15 minutes, with 5 min of Q&A) and will be grouped by specialty and divided into blocks of three presentations followed by a 10-minute break. Utilizing the virtual platform, Zoom, attendees will have the ability to navigate between meeting presentation tracks without having to click through multiple links. Note: Meeting presenters and participants need to be on Zoom 5.3.0 or later and self-select Breakout Rooms to self-navigate between resident presenter breakout rooms.

NEW!  TOP 5 FAQ FROM RPDS, PRECEPTORS, AND RESIDENTS:

Q1: Is there a downloadable version of the schedule where I can search for all resident presentations from my site or by resident name or by track?
A1: Yes. Once the schedule is finalized, a link will be available at the top of this page and on the event site sent in your Important Information for Attendees email. The Excel version of the schedule can be sorted/filtered by key columns such as: Resident Name, Track, Organization. A separate pdf list of resident presentation times by resident last name is also available for download.

Q2: How will resident presentations be conducted?

We will be using the Zoom meeting platform and presenters will share their screen and run the presentation from their own device. The limits of Zoom functionality only allow the use of PowerPoint "presenter view" if the presenter has dual screens. Conference hosts will be supporting and facilitating the meeting sessions. Opportunities to self-test the Zoom platform and practice sharing presentations is available HERE . This link is available 24/7 and unstaffed. Note that other participants may be coming and going from the same room. There will also be another opportunity to test your setup the day of the meeting at the staffed help desk in the Resident Track Zoom Meeting main room.

Q3: How will attendees access and remotely attend the conference?
A3: Participants will receive an email with the conference schedule, instructions, links, tech specifications,  connectivity tips, and conference etiquette from [email protected] 48 hours before the event begins. Two links from the event site page will be utilized for the duration of the meeting.  One will be used for the CE webinar presentations and the other for all resident presentations (morning and afternoon will utilize the SAME meeting link). Participants will be able to freely navigate between resident presentations at any time by choosing the breakout room with the name of the track they wish to attend.

Q4: Do you need volunteers to help moderate the resident presenter sessions? What are the tasks? Do I have to be tech fluent?
A4: We have asked RPDs, RPCs, and preceptors to help as track facilitators for part of their attendance time to ensure that presenters receive preceptor critiques in addition to feedback from resident/fellow peers. We welcome additional resident and preceptor volunteers! If you answered YES to the moderator question during registration you should have been contacted.  Shift lengths vary from 1.25-2 hours to cover 4-6 resident presentations. Detailed moderator guidelines are available for review under the event site Presenter/Moderator Resources button. The duties are simple: facilitate presentation order, keep room on time, monitor chat/facilitate Q and A at end, and make provided announcements at end of session. You do not need to be fluent in Zoom.  As a co-hosts you will be able to mute participants if needed and in the rare case of a technical failure with the resident’s device, may need to screen share their slides for them. Instructions for tech are in the moderator guide which will be emailed to moderators.

Q5: Will there be Preceptor Development topics for CE?
A5: Yes! We have three timely topics and have secured national and local engaging speakers that address the development needs of established preceptors and our residents/fellows and preceptors-in-training. The topic ideas came from prior conference attendees. ACPE-approved CE, which is recognized by all states, has been obtained for these preceptor development sessions. The resident presentation sessions are not approved for CE.
