Greetings:

With enthusiasm, allow me to recognize the 2020 National Pharmacy Week (Oct 18th – 24th 2020) and Pharmacy caregivers, across diverse practice settings for delivering world-class care!

When interdisciplinary teams work together as one-unit, exceptional things happen. Pharmacists and Technicians continue to play an integral role to serve patients, fellow caregivers, and the people in our community. As essential workers during this pandemic, our profession do not hesitate to serve on the front-line, to ensure patients receive the right medication therapy, at the right dose, and at the right time, including medications approved to treat COVID-19 via FDA emergency use authorizations. Thank you for the selfless and inspiring work you do, daily.

For our Pharmacy learners and future practitioners - I am sure the learning experiences this year has been unique, whether it be adjusting to remote classroom learning or in-person direct patient care. As you prepare for either residency or employment interviews – OSHP Norther Chapters invites you to participate in the Virtual Mock Interview Night on Monday, Nov 2nd 2020 from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm by registering online.

Finally, as you continue to serve others during this time, I hope you are also taking time for to safely care for yourself. Thank you.

2020-2021 Northern Chapter Chair

Greetings:
I hope all is well and enjoyed the June holidays. I am sure we all envisioned a different 2020, and had plans for summer vacations, and social gatherings with family and friends – and then the world changes around us. Let me share the note below as a reflection:

“What if 2020 isn’t cancelled?
What if 2020 is the year we’ve been waiting for?
A year so uncomfortable, so painful, so scary, so raw — that it finally forces us to grow.
A year that screams so loud, finally awakening us from our ignorant slumber.
A year we finally accept the need for change.
Declare change. Work for change. Become the change.
A year we finally band together, instead of pushing each other further apart.
2020 isn’t cancelled, but rather the most important year of them all.”

2020 appears to have become a very important year. During this time, we have the opportunity to make some of the most important decisions both personally and professionally as we are called to serve our patients, fellow caregivers, and people in the community. I have been inspired by all the stories of engagements, collaborations and innovations, and look forward to the new world we build together.

For the 2020-2021 year, we will continue to monitor the evolving situation and will provide updates on the OSHP Northern Chapter hosted events as appropriate: Welcome to Oregon event, Mock Interview Night, Trivia Night and a Continuing Education event. Stay tuned.

Finally, please join me in welcoming Lam H. Nguyen, PharmD, MBA who will be transitioning to serve as Northern Chapter Chair-Elect for 2020-2021. I am humbled and excited to serve alongside Lam this year to plan and host our events.

The Northern Chapter will continue to look at when we can bring back Trivia Night and the Law CE.  For now, both of these events have been cancelled until further notice. The safety of our members and staff is our number one priority and apologize for any inconveniences during this time.
